‘Twas the night before Beerfest

(or, a visit from St Sixtus)
After Clement Clarke Moore (1823)

A stirring poem for participants in the World Drinking Tour London Spring Beer Weekend 2012

Goodies await!

‘Twas the night before Beerfest, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The bottles were stacked in the cooler with care
in hopes that the gang soon would be there

The guys were sleeping, all snug in their beds
while visions of Westmalle danced in the heads
The glasses gleaming, lined up on the shelf
eagerly waiting, to toast our health

When on my phone there arose such a clatter
A timely text on an urgent matter
Away to the bar, I flew like a flash
Eager to join the mid-day bash

They’ve already started, faces aglow
I have to catch up, I’ll give it a go
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
a glistening glass of golden beer!

The day has started, we’re on the go
Talking bollocks, enjoying the flow
More of same, again and again
Passing the day, spoiling our brain

Then it’s late, we need a bite
Time for a curry to end the night
Then to bed, but no need for sorrow
For we know..there’s more tomorrow!

It’s always Christmas on World Drinking Tour!
